Versailles Family Health Center
Versailles Family Health Center
The community of Versailles, population approximately 2,500, is located within 20 minutes of the Lake of the Ozarks and offers a host of recreational and outdoor opportunities.
Established in 1905 by the Sisters of St. Mary, St. Marys Hospital, as it was known then, has evolved during the last nine decades to become an enduring source of quality health care in mid-Missouri. From a single tenement of just 38 patient rooms, St. Marys Health Center's campus has grown to 167 beds. Its 230-member medical staff has developed an excellent reputation. Services offered include: a comprehensive Heart Center, complete cancer services, outpatient services, a level III trauma center, maternal and child health services with a Level II nursery, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and a primary care network of family physicians in 8 rural communities. Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility was established in 1983 to meet the need for longer term care.
Jefferson City, the state capitol of Missouri, has much to offer the family-minded physician. Our school system is highly rated and family events, outdoor activities, and sports are the focus of much recreational activity. We are located just 45 minutes from the Lake of the Ozarks recreation area and 30 minutes from the largest university in the state, the University of Missouri-Columbia. In addition, we are a short two-hour interstate drive from both St. Louis and Kansas City and the many attractions they offer.
Sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, St. Louis-based SSM Health Care (SSMHC), a health care ministry founded in 1872, is one of the largest Catholic systems in the nation. It is also one of the largest health care providers in Missouri.
SSMHC owns, operates and manages 19 acute care hospitals. Consistent with our philosophy of fostering collaboration and networking, SSMHC entities participate in integrated health networks in their communities in Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma. A primary goal of these networks is to build healthier communities.
In St. Louis, for example, nine SSMHC entities in partnership with physicians have formed SSM Health Care of St. Louis. In Oklahoma City, four SSMHC hospitals belong to SSM Health Care of Oklahoma, Inc., which participates in several statewide networks.
In Wisconsin, SSM Health Care of Wisconsin is being formed to hold the two hospitals and two nursing homes owned and operated by SSMHC in southern Wisconsin.
In addition, SSM Health Care operates rehabilitation and pediatric services, long-term and residential care facilities, hospices and home health agencies as well as physician practices, ambulatory care centers, professional office buildings, shared services, and health-related businesses, including information systems.
