The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center is focused on bringing together high quality primary care provider to deliver exceptional care and services to the underserved in our community.  GNBCHC, is seeking a BC Infectious Disease Physicians to join our team in New Bedford, MA.

This is a Medical Director opportunity. The Infectious Disease Physician will join the Infectious Disease – Ryan White HIV/AIDS department within the community health center. They will be a critical part of the clinical leadership team and practice alongside a talented group of clinicians whose mission is to provide comprehensive, integrated health care and support services to persons who are experiencing healthcare issues, and to improve the quality of care for vulnerable populations through community collaborations, leadership, and advocacy.

Responsibilities & Duties:

The Medical Director will be responsible for the coordination, delivery, and supervision of primary medical care at the Center.

He/she will participate in the planning, development, and coordination of clinical health care programs to meet community health care needs for a medically complex and at-risk population in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

They will establish and maintain standards of patient care and serve as a member of the Leadership Team.





Required Education, Skills, & Other Credentials:

  • Medical Degree and current and unrestricted Massachusetts Physician License.
  • DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration.
  • Infectious Disease Board Certification (ABIM) preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Maintain continuing medical education requirements.
  • Knowledge of community health and public health principles/practices.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of people living with HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis and Latent Tuberculosis.
  • Understanding of LGBTQ+ population and persons with substance use disorders.
  • Strong EMR skills are required.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel are a plus.
  • Waivered, or willing to become waivered, for Medication Assisted Treatment.
