Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 309-bed freestanding children's hospital and ACS-verified Level 1 pediatric trauma center, and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists,  the physician multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, have exceptional opportunities for a BC/BE fellowship-trained pediatric emergency medicine physicians to join one of the busiest emergency departments in the United States.

 

The 65-room Emergency Department at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital was visited over 100,000 times in 2021. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the emergency department are the focal points for high acuity pediatric care in Southern Florida. The Division is multi-faceted and is focused on developing the next generation of physicians with the pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program, and residents and medical students who rotate through the service. Voluntary academic appointments are available through an affiliation with Florida International University (FIU).

 

The current team is comprised of 28 board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric emergency medicine physicians, 15 pediatricians and 15 advanced practice providers, with pediatric specialists and subspecialists on call, 24 hours a day. Emergency Department shifts vary from 7-10 hours based upon the time of year and coverage of 3-8 physicians per shift, depending on the time of day. The entire Emergency Department staff are dedicated to maximizing the patient experience through continuous process improvements.
