We are thrilled that in September 2021 the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education approved a new cardiovascular disease fellowship training program at the Georgia Heart Institute of NGHS. The three-year program began in July 2022 training eighteen cardiovascular fellows – six per year – through a contemporary patient-centric and innovative educational experience that will produce exceptional cardiologists. In support of this program, we are seeking highly qualified candidates for the role of Associate Program Director.

About the position:
Personalized & Comprehensive Care. Our patient-centered approach to care brings together all specialized services and treatments needed to deliver a truly personalized experience – from diagnosis to long-term disease management. The appropriate candidate will have clinical interests in consultative and outpatient cardiovascular care with flexibility to also practice cardiovascular critical care and non-invasive imaging. Noninvasive imaging (echo, MRI, CT, etc.) will be an important part of this job.
Partnering Together in Heart Health Northeast Georgia Medical Center/Georgia Heart Institute Cardiology has a robust academic department consisting of specialists in all subdivisions of Cardiology including electrophysiology and complex ablations, interventional and structural cardiology, heart failure and mechanical device support, ECMO, complex cardiac and aortic/vascular surgery, preventive cardiology, and advanced imaging.

Our unwavering dedication to providing the highest level of care means continuing to enhance and improve the services we’re already providing through research and discovery. At Georgia Heart Institute, our experts are actively involved in national research aimed at understanding what causes heart attacks and then preventing them from occurring. Research initiatives will be encouraged and candidates will be expected to establish an academic portfolio and an area of expertise. Fellow and resident education is an integral component of the job. There are opportunities for academic advancement and leadership in committees depending on the level of interest and performance.
