Halifax Health is seeking a Medical/Hematology Oncologist to join our team!

The Center for Oncology at Halifax Health is the second oldest cancer program in the State of Florida, having first been accredited through the American College of Surgeons in 1956. Individualized attention is the heart and soul of our oncology program.  Our medical oncologists are part of a highly skilled team of radiation oncologists, surgeons, specialty trained nurses and clinicians that work together to provide state-of-the-art cancer care. Our oncology program includes a comprehensive range of services and programs from navigation, rehabilitation, nutrition, genetics, research, counseling and support groups to our online patient portal for cancer patients.

Halifax Health – Center for Oncology is a leader in oncology treatment advancements. Several of our recognized accomplishments include:

  • Being the first and only dedicated inpatient oncology unit in our area
  • Creating the first clinical trial/research program – Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), a network for conducting cancer prevention and treatment clinical trials through a federal grant in 1984
  • Offering the first Cancer Genetics program in our area
  • The first da Vinci robotic surgery system to cover multiple counties

Halifax Health is the area’s only Level II Trauma Center serving the Volusia County community since 1928. Halifax Health is the area's largest tertiary healthcare provider. The main campus is located in Daytona Beach with 678 licensed beds, there is an 80-bed community hospital; Halifax Health Medical Center of Port Orange and brand new 90-bed hospital that opened early 2020; Halifax Health – UF Health Medical Center of Deltona. Job Details/Qualifications:

  • Full time, Employed position (Fellows Welcome!)
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology
  • Must hold US citizenship or permanent residency
  • Must obtain a Florida license
  • Well trained in reputable undergraduate and graduate (medical) programs; top of the class and chief assignments
  • Minimal academic assignments/positions, majority of his/her career shall be in large (multiple locations) private or hospital based practice. Preferable hospital based in a taxing district, safety net environment (part of his/her career)
  • Clean (zero claims) malpractice record
  • Mid-point in his/her career
  • Physician Governance Council allows for physician input into strategic planning and operational policies for the employed physician group

Schedule– work day and call:

  • Outpatient clinic – Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Call schedule – Every 7th weekend, every 7th night

Average number of patients seen per physician per day:

  • 2 new outpatients
  • 15-20 office visits

Percentage of the practice that is geriatric – pediatric:

  • All adult and geriatric patients – no pediatric
