Cherry Hospital, an accredited State Psychiatric Hospital serving eastern North Carolina, is accepting application for permanent full-time Professional Nurses (Registered Nurses).  The primary focus of the position includes providing active programming and ensuring safety of our patients, which is driven by individual patient treatment plans.  The Professional Nurse supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Technicians for treatment planning and implementation of the treatment plan, and provides individual & group interactions.  Three shift differentials are recognized and flexible scheduling and 12 hour shift  options are available.

Candidates must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
*Prefer experience or strong interest in psychiatric or substance abuse nursing.
*Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team
*Ability to utilize critical decision-making skills inc risis situations
*Ability to comprehend and follow hospital policies and procedures
*Ability to utilize the nursing process throughout the patients' hospitalization
*Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
*Ability to utilize proper ergonomics during patient care
** As a condition for continued employment, must pass all required parts of CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
** As an essential function of this position, the shift/unit assigned is primary but you may be required to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, during inclement weather and overtime and be assigned to another shift/unit building based on the hospital needs.
