Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA, is seeking a Chair, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, due to the upcoming retirement of our current Chair. The Department is staffed with over 200 professionals, which include pathologists, transfusion medicine physicians, cytogeneticists, clinical chemists, medical technologists, histologists, medical technicians, phlebotomists, nurses, pathology assistants and administrative staff. It provides comprehensive diagnostic testing services, with approximately 18,000 surgical cases, 9,000 cytology specimens and 3.5 million clinical tests done annually, in a wide variety of areas in both anatomic and clinical pathology.
Tufts Medical Center has 415 beds and the Floating Hospital for Children has 94 beds hospital beds. We are consistently at the forefront of medical and health policy research. Tufts Medical Center is in the top 15 percent of independent institutions receiving federal research funding and conducts $50 million annually in extramurally funded research. Tufts Medical Center and the Floating Hospital offer 43 resident and fellowship programs with 451 residents and fellows. In addition, Tufts Medical Center is one of two hospitals in Boston with a focus on cardiac transplantation. We performed 56 heart transplants in 2017.
Interested physician candidates should have a track record of personal academic accomplishments, demonstrated successful administrative and leadership experience at an academic institution as the Department Chair, Division Chief or Section Head, and possess credentials within Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with current Board Certification either in AP/CP, AP only or CP only; and be eligible for a Massachusetts medical license.
