The Fels Institute for Cancer Research & Molecular Biology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Assistant Professor. The Fels Institute for Cancer Research & Molecular Biology has a vibrant and interdisciplinary research program focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of various human diseases.
The successful applicant should have a PhD and/or MD and extensive knowledge and research experience in the field of hematological malignancies including chronic and acute leukemias and myeloproliferative neoplasms with special focus on experimentation using human primary leukemia stem cells.
The prospective candidate is expected to have a leading role in leukemia research at the Fels Institute. To this end, the prospective candidate is expected to have knowledge and substantial expertise in handling human primary leukemia cells including maintaining leukemia stem cells, testing new experimental drugs and experimenting with the use of murine models of human leukemia. Of particular interest are candidates with the experience in personalized medicine approach to eliminate leukemias by triggering synthetic lethality. The prospective candidate should also be familiar with molecular biology techniques.
The successful candidate is expected to have publications in respectable peer reviewed journals and the ability to manage the laboratory. Experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students would be an asset along with excellent interpersonal skills.
