Due to planned expansion in the dermpath business, our multi-specialty community practice seeks a full-time, AP/CP board certified pathologist with fellowship training in dermatopathology. Position will be general pathology with a heavy focus on dermatopathology. Comfort with signing out general pathology and non-gyn cytology is expected, however the goal is for 85% dermatopathology.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two or three years of post-fellowship experience, however recently trained individuals will be considered. Candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position is for individuals who are excited to contribute positively to patient care and who want to build strong professional relationships with dermatologists, medical and technical staff. The ability to obtain unrestricted medical licenses in Indiana and Michigan is required.
South Bend Medical Foundation is a non-profit Regional Pathology and Blood Center and that has served the local community since 1912. This unique practice consists of sixteen pathologists with subspecialty training in cytopathology, breast, dermatopathology, and hematopathology. Three pathologist assistants handle grossing responsibilities. The pathologists function as integral members of the clinical team, diagnosing approximately 55,000 surgical cases, 700 bone marrows, and 6,000 cytology specimens annually from three large regional hospitals and several outpatient centers. Call is limited to a few weeks per year and weekend coverage is compensated with extra weekdays off. Pathologists do not perform autopsies.
