First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System  is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant with full spectrum Colon & Rectal care or in a related surgical sub-specialty to join newly created division in the Group.

You will join an internationally recognized colorectal surgeon in developing a premier service line.  You will have exposure with inpatient and outpatient care. The spectrum of operative procedures you will assist with include advanced minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopic, robotic – Xi & SP, single incision, natural orifice – NOTES) utilizing cutting edge technology only performed in less than 6 centers globally. In addition to inpatient exposure on the wards, you will participate in the outpatient office setting to evaluate and work-up patients. The focus will be on outstanding outcomes.  Growth opportunities will be available. Motivated and reliable individuals eager to be part of an exciting opportunity with an outstanding team are encouraged to apply.

Sarasota is recognized as one of the best places in the country to live, work and raise a family due to a healthy business scene, outstanding schools, and thriving recreational and cultural opportunities.  Located on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, Sarasota County is famous nationwide for  the Ringling Museum, white-sand beaches, great restaurants, outdoor recreation, land and water sports, theater and much more.

Sarasota  Memorial is a CMS 5-Star rated hospital in Florida for its overall quality. It is the only hospital in Florida and one of just 52 across the nation to maintain their top rating since 2016. In 2018, Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Sarasota earned its fourth consecutive Magnet recognition from the ANCC, the credentialing body of the American Nurses Association — a humbling achievement that fewer than 1% of the nation's hospitals have attained.  In its 2021-2022 report, U.S. News ranked SMH among the 50 “Best Hospitals” in the nation for our rehabilitation programs and services.

In November 2021, SMHCS will open a new 110-bed acute-care  hospital in Venice, Florida  and a 56-bed Cancer Institute on the campus of the main hospital. The main hospital is the largest in the region  with 839 beds, a Level II Trauma Center, a 54-bed Rehab Pavilion, and much more.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Full time Physician Assistant (PA-C) position on staff at one hospital.
  • Group prefers 3-5 years of experience in full spectrum Colon & Rectal care or a similar specialty in addition to Robotic and Minimally Invasive surgical assistance experience.
