What surprised me the most was how different the job market was from what I had anticipated. I expected a streamlined process with a few interviews and a quick decision, but I quickly realized employers were looking not only for clinical competence but also for someone who fit their team culture and values.
Get clear on what kind of setting you want to work in (e.g., primary care, urgent care, specialty), and know your deal-breakers, whether they’re related to location, salary or work/ life balance. Tailor your résumé and cover letter to each position, and don’t underestimate the importance of networking.

I appreciated the ability to create a profile, upload my résumé and receive interest from recruiters directly. It saved me a lot of time and gave me exposure to employers I wouldn’t have otherwise known about.
