EMPLOYER: TEAMHEALTH

IN PRACTICE SINCE: 2015

What are your hobbies, interests and activities?

I love to travel. I love art museums. I enjoy cooking and gardening. I enjoy spending family time with my daughter, my fiancé and our French Bulldog, Jax. My professional goals include medical missions. I have been to Haiti and I’m looking to do physician medical missions next summer hopefully in The Philippines or Africa.

What surprised you about your job search?

That the market for mid-levels in Florida is pretty saturated.

What’s your advice for those beginning their job search?

Keep your current job or have another source of income while waiting to get onboarded. Onboarding with a new employer can take several months. Keep your options open and apply for many jobs. Interviewing at serval places will give you experience and help you hone in on what you do and don’t want for your career.

How did you find your job?

I found it by using PracticeLink!

Any anecdotes to share about how you went about your job search?

I applied as a new graduate NP for an urgent care job. I remember the recruiter asking in an email why she thought I qualified as a new graduate, and I wrote a multi-paragraph response about why I felt I was qualified with 10 years as an emergency nurse practitioner, NP clinical training in the ER and so on. My response got me an interview and I was hired.

Any other advice?

Aim high! I heard a recent quote: “Don’t give up. Don’t take anything personally and don’t take no for an answer.” Also, like I tell my patients: “You are your own best advocate.” •
