What surprised you about your first post-residency job search? How overwhelming it can be. I didn’t know where to start.

What’s your advice for residents who are beginning their search? Start searching early — usually around the time third year begins.

What was the most important factor in your search? I wanted a position as close to home as possible, as my parents live in New York. I wanted something close so they can be near their grandson.

How did you find your job? I searched pediatric and pediatric endocrine on PracticeLink. It was very well organized.

How did PracticeLink help you in your job search? I was able to get my job through PracticeLink and apply to many positions through the website. I was also able to network and make new connections, including various job recruiters that I keep in touch with regarding future possible opportunities.

Any other advice? Apply as early as possible, as spots fill up very quickly. •
