What surprised you about your first post-residency job search?

Not all opportunities are created equal. It was important to filter out all the offers to choose the best location, workload and environment to receive work life balance as a hospitalist.

What’s your advice for residents beginning their job search?

Look for life/work balance. As a hospitalist, I found that working for a hospital or a care management company offers the best balance.

What was the most important factor in your search?

A nice location where I can enjoy life after work. A friendly EMR. And a manageable workload so I can focus on patient care.
